A rare retinopathy resulting from microvascular damage and occlusion as a result of severe head trauma, chest compression injury or other crush injuries involving broken bones or fat emboli. It can be caused by a number of systemic diseases (eg, pancreatic disease, connective tissue diseases , lymphomas and thrombocytic thrombocytopenic purpura and following bone marrow transplantation). It can occur during pregnancy or delivery. The estimated annual incidence is cases per million population per year in the UK.
Center for Sight will file your insurance claims for you if you have a Medical Diagnosis or if your insurance company
is one that we are contracted with for “wellness” or a “vision rider.” However, Center for Sight
will not file insurance claims for a determination of refraction. This is a test to determine a
prescription for glasses. Payment for this test is due at the time of service.
